question about these MB Quart comps
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=12144
Do you get a pair or just one woofer one tweeter and a crossover.
It may sound really stupid but i am a little scetchy about the title "5.25" 2-Way QSD Series Separate Components"
saying seperate components.
And also, does anyone know if you can wire tweeters to a two ohm load?
And how many watts RMS can those tweeters take? 70 watts? i figured that was only for the woofers and not the tweeters. What crossover point would you use for tweeters? and for those speakers?

I have done a little research and found out that you just connect the speaker wire to the crossover and you have 70 watts RMS and the crossover distributes the power to the woofer and component...
Sound right..?
And i also found out tweeters can be wired to a two ohm load, although i have asked this so many times and no one had an answer, we looked at Steve Meades Diagram of his Tahoe, and it looks like he has his tweeters wired to two ohms on each channel.

If the tweets is a single voice coil, which it usually is, then i don't think you can wire it down to 2ohms, unless ur wiring two single 4ohm down. But don't do that, makes no damn sense, just run the tweeter at 4ohm and it'll be fine.
And yes, the crossover distributes the power to the tweeter and the mid from the amp. But u won't be getting exactly 70watts, mayb 5watts less, but shouldn't really make a difference in sound anyway.

wait, so i am buying a T400-4 and i am suppose to run the tweeters at 4 ohms. So two tweeters will take up 2 channels? That kinda sucks?

umm....the comp. itself would take up 2channels, if you look at the crossover, it has an input for amp and an output for both mid and tweet. so u only need a 2channel amp for the set of comp.

oh okay so the crossover is b/t the channel output on the amp and tweeters and speakers. So with a tweeter and speaker for one crossover, the total ohm load the channel on the amp will see is 4 ohms.
However, if I hooked up both crossovers inputs to the amp in the same cahnnel like parallel it would be a 2 ohm load, but i wont do that i am just saying.
I get it, so the specifications and ratings for component sets gives the ratings for the set as a whole. So its 70 Watts for the tweeter and the speaker, and the total load is 4 ohms, not the tweeter and speaker are 4 ohms (thats what i was thinking the whole time)

The woofer and the tweeter are both 4 ohms. What the passive crossover does is send the amplified signal to the proper driver, depending on the frequency. With a passiver crossover, the impedance that the amp will see is equal to the impedance of the driver that the frequency is sent to. That is why you should use tweeters and woofers with the same impedance in a passive setup. Otherwise the impedance load on the amp varies at different frequencies...not a good thing.

meade is using the xxx comps, they are 2ohm drivers....although his tweets I think are 4 ohms, but he has about 10 tweeters in that hoe, probally wired a few together.
