Sub dilemma- TC vs Fi
Hey guys,
I can't seem to find many opinions and I can't decide which sub to go with.
I plan on getting a sundown 1000D and a 10" sub sealed. Now, I like the TC-1000 which would get 600w for the amp. The OEM10 seems to be a great deal and is super sexy, but I've read it tops out at 50hz and my comps won't be going that low. So, I'm concerned, while it bangs I'm sure, that SQ will suffer with that gap between 50hz and say 70hz.
Lastly, the FiSSD 10. Now, because this comes D2, I can run the sundown at 1 ohm and feed it 1000w. However, my concern here is, I will only have 100w x2 on the fronts and I'm afraid the 1000w sub will simply overpower the fronts. Am I right? I could also just send it the same 600w.
So, which of the 3 would be the best for SQ with 600w? Unless the 1000w to the Fi won't drown out the fronts.
I like the TC-1000, but everyone and their mother is creaming themselves over the OEM and because I have to buy on faith, I want to research as many opinions and advice as I can.

i doubt if u would overpower ur fronts with 1000watts, but that also depends on what comps u get. But even if the OEM tapers off at 50hz, it won't just stop producing bass beyond 50hz. To be honest I haven't heard neither but i know that TC is more SQ oriented so u can depend on them for that.
Btw, wat comps do u have?

Thanks for the reply.
I don't have anything yet, still compiling my equipment list off my research. Maybe you can offer some comments on what I think I've settled on?
comps- rainbow SLC 265
comp amp - sundown sax 100.2
sub- 10" TC-1000 (or TC OEM, or FI SSD)
sub amp- sundown sae 1000D
Probably Knukoncept connects and a yellow top Optima.

Those Rainbow's have nice midbass and get decently loud... you should be fine with either the SSD or the OEM

From what i have heard the rainbow can get pretty low and will have some good punch to it. I think it's safe to say that with ur comp u should be fine with the OEM. I know that the older XXX have been know to not do real well at 50hz and above but lots of ppl love that sub.
I'd wait for others to chime in also

Ah, so the Rainbows are good comps and the Sundown 100.2 will power them nicely? Good to hear.
So, then you guys like the OEM over the TC-1000 and Fi for SQ? I mean I listen to all kinds of music so SQ is important. But I must admit that with my driving music is 75% hip hop and I like to feel my bass.
So a lot of OEM votes, not saddened, more pleasantly surprised as it is a hot sub. So 600w would be fine for the OEM? The 1000w would only be with the Fi SSD.

More would be the 1500D and out of my wanted price range. I'd most likely go with the 1000D and whatever sub to just get me started. In time, if it's not enough, I'd upgrade. I'm coming from a Mazda 5 with 300w to an Arc Audio 10. So jumping to 600w will be a big enough jump if I got the OEM. Only giving it 600w won't take away from it's SQ will it? That was another reason I looked at the 400w TC-1000.

nah, i don't think its possible to take away sq if u feed it less power, mayb if there's so little power that it's not audible . And there are plenty of other amps out there that can do the power u need, for cheaper too. But i'll understand if u wanna stick wit sundownz.

K, what are some other SQ amps in that price and power range? I was a kicker and JL Audio fan in my hay day, so forgive me for not knowing all the best brands and specs.
