New 6.5 Type-r comps( spr-17s)

I see Alpine has a new set of 6.5' Type r comps out (spr-17s), has anyone heard them how do them compared to the old type r or x comps? I was originally thinking Crystal SSCS6's but I can get the alpine's for the same price. they'll be running on a Kicker SX600.2, and I listen to anything but country

somehow i don't associate type-r with good sounds. This is biased because i've only heard the type-r subs(which sounds like ass, loud ass). But i say go to a local shop and listen, i'm sure u can find a type-r dealer near you.

I would suggest the crystal though

the type r's (at least the old one's) sound considerably different than what you would expect from the type r subs. whie the subs are as un-sq as you can get, the 6.5's arnt too bad. they have a bit of sibilance (emphasized s, sh, ch, z, j), they perform pretty well for the price range. now while i would never take them to a competition due to their harsh highs and lack of strong midbass, they still do the job in my truck for a much better than stock and overall great speaker for the price range. sorry i cant help with the new type-r 6.5's but i highly doubt they compare to even the older model type x's.
