Building my first sub

I have just finished paying off my computer, and now comes a sub! This is gona be for music, movies, and games. It'll be hooked up to a HT receiver which will in turn be hooked up to a TV, DVD player, PS2, computer, CD player, and whatever I feel like hooking it up to in the future.

Now, I'm probably going to go with a 15" TC Sounds TC9 and probably a 1000 watt x 2 external amplifier. It's been a little difficult trying to find an affordable external amp, and might have to go with a sub-plate amplifier. Which will mean I have to go with a 1000 x 1 amplifier, which means my upgrade opportunities are thrown to the sharks.

I was thinking about having an external 1000 x 2 amp so I can make both the subs passive, not have to factor the amp in when tuning, and can hook up more passive subs.

Ported sounds a bit better to me than sealed, it gives more of a rumble. I like that. But, if you believe sealed is better, I'll make it sealed. The size of the enclosure isn't all that much important. 2' x 2' x 2' (8 ft^3) is probably the best size to fit in the area.

The rest of my questions will be asked during the conversation.

Generally ported tuned low is what most ppl in HT goes for. By the way, u need to post some pics or we :banhim:

But seriously, it'll help the knowledgable members help you out better if they have a visual.

Do you think that the 15" Dayton Titanic is a good sub for the $$? I want to keep the cost down a little.

Does it sound like new? Cuz I don't want a driver that has been used for 2 years and is almost blown out.

Would that amp be good with the Dayton Titanic?

I was thinking of getting this:

Parts ExpressAYTON TITSK-15K 15" TITANIC MKIII SUBWOOFER KIT

I figured it would just be easier to go sealed, a lot less calculations.

How used is it? And how much? I'm trying to get the price down a bit.

Does anyone have a 1000 watt amp they don't need?
