there's a gain tutorial, i think it should be in the knowledge base section.

This is how i do it though: set ur HU to max level that u listen to(or about 60-75% of max volume), then just turn ur gain to where there is distortion, then back off a bit. Others may have better method, but dat's what i do without a DMM

80, I think the lowest my SSF goes down to is 30. And when I turn my LPF down, to say 0 or whatever, it gets quiter, but when I turn it up to around and keep going higher, it gets louder. Wtf? Not very loud at all right now . Well maybe not, when I look at a picture, the SSF goes down to 15hz. It is wierd though because when I set the gain, all the way one way it says 9v, and the other way it says .2v. When I turn the thing to .2v, it gets louder, when I turn it towards 9v, it gets quiter. It's like it's backwards or something.

Sounds like you dont even know what those settings mean on the Headunit. The SSF is the sub sonic filter. This prevents the sub from playing full out below what this is set at. These are very important for ported enclosures because you dont want your sub playing much below tuning. A good spot for the SSF is 5hz below the tuning of your enclosure. The LPF is the low pass filter. This is used so your sub isnt trying to play full out 200hz notes. Most subs only sound good playing up to the 80hz range, so that is where you want to set it at. The more you turn it down, the less loud is plays at the notes above what it is set at. Now, the gain is probably the most important. The gain is used to match the voltage going into the amp from the Headunit through the RCA's. If you have like an 8v eclipse, your gain is going to be barely turned up. If you have like a 2v alpine, your gain is going to be almost all the way up. The gain IS NOT a volume knob. If you just crank it all the way, you will send a clipped signal to your sub and kill it. The easiest way is to use a DMM, like you have. But the volume you set your voltage at, you dont want to go over that. Your sub may get louder going past that volume, but you are no longer sending it a distortion free signal. Distortion may not be heard though because the human ear can not hear lower levels of distortion. But sending distortion to a sub can kill it. Hope this helped you out!

Thanks alot bro. They only problem is that it it not getting loud at all. I have the gain set at volume 20, and the xmax of the sub is about .3 inches. Not that xmax means anything..but it just isn't getting loud.

I figured out the problem, the gain was set way low. When I max my gain out, it only goes up to 22.xx volts. It needs to go to 44.7. How can I get it to go higher?
