Wire/fuse experts, help please!

OK, for whatever reason I'm having a brain fart and am lost on what to do here.

I've got a Memphis Belle 1300 that I will be running. 1100w @ 1 ohm to the subs, and 150w x 2 @ 4 ohms to the comps. Amp has (6) 30A fuses build in.

Problem is, the power and ground on the amp will only take a 4 ga wire, and that's really working to get it in there. And the way they're angled, I'm not going to be able to use reducers.

Now, I know 4 ga is only supposed to be good up to 140-150A, which tells me to use 1/0... plus, if I fuse to protect the wire (150a), then I'm not letting the amp reach it's full load.

My battery's in the back of the trunk, and the amp will be installed in the spare tire well with the batt, so the total power wire run is only going to be like 1'.

With that short of a distance, do you think I will be OK using the 4ga from batt to distro, and from distro to amp? What should I fuse it with?

Other alternative is that I could use 1/0 from the batt to the distro, then the 4 ga from the distro to the amp.

Or do I just suck it up and trim 75% of the 1/0 away and force it into the amp?

Help... I know this is easy, but I just can't get past my own install lol

What I do is use 1/0 all around. Just trim the connection to make it fit.

Yeah, I know that's what I should do... I guess the big hangup is that I'm pissed that they put a connector on the amp that isn't even sufficiently sized to accept the size wire it needs

I dont think your amp will ever draw that much when playing music at a normal volume. The only time I see you running into problems is maybe test tones at high volume.

another thing you could do like you said bring 1/0 guage to a distro block and make a short run of 4 guage wire, the shorter the cable the more amps its capable of handling.

Yeah, it would only be about 6" of 1/0, then distro, then only 6" of 4 ga, so....

They make it like that to fit "their" wire. If you can get a reducer and lift the amp up an inch or 2. You will have to grind the reducer down alittle (I have the same amp) But if not your plan will be suffice.

Thanks... I'm not sure how much room I'll have to raise it, but I'll try.

Can I have your amp's case lol Mine's a little beat up

I used reduces. To be honest the way memphis position those terminals was pretty stupid. That amp does pull a decent amount of current so bigger is better.
