Mounting amp sidway ok??

I currently have my Orion 2500d mounted on the top flat. I plan on putting the 18" on top facing up, and the amp on the side. Will it be ok as far as heating is concered?

Hot air rises, if you mount it upside down it will overheat. The heatsink is made so it expells heat upwards, if you flip it over, it just heats up the amp.

if the amp has a heatsink on the edges of the amp
(think JL slash amps or the like)
they can be mounted upside down with out anyproblems.
this is because the heat sinks are on the side. and can get cooling.

also when you think about it, most amps the guts of hang upside. so when you flip the amp upside down, the electrical parts are now rightside up..

This was the whole reason for me asking. I know in alot of cases upside down is a nono. I've just never heard anything about sideways.

The internals can be mounted anyway. What it comes down to is how the heatsink design is layed out and will it work upsidedown.
For example..
MA audiio 4000D's are fan cooled and have a mesh like cover. The bottom of the amp is its heatsink so really you could mount it upsidedown with no problems.
