Remote wire problem
Seems my remote wire frome the HU to the amp is causing problems with my FM reception.
I found out yesterday when I removed my sub and amp out of the car. I thought something was wrong with my antenna.
I have a 2004 Nissan Altima, it has the antenna in the rear windshield, it is a power antenna.
I had to splice it into a power source when I put my HU in or the antenna would not work.
Is there another spot I can put the antenna wire or the remote wire? I was thinking of running the remote to the ignition but i know this is something I cant NOT do myself.
I dont feel comfortable at all messing with my car, other than changing the oil and running power wires for an amp!
What would you guys suggest?

what kind of headunit? if it has a separate remote and power antenna just use the remote wire. if you're using the power antenna it could be causing interference.

x2 most head units have a separate wire for power antenna now a days. Even my old pioneer from like 6 yrs ago has one.

I basicly wired the antenna to the remote wire, I think? I really need to pull my HU out and see whats what, I installed this HU in 2004 when the car was brand new.
I dont remember whats going on in there now. I have not had much time off from work lately, when my schedule gets back to normal I am going to attack this problem!
Hopefully I will have my second BL 10 by then so I can just install everything and work on the HU on the same day!

The remote wire is blue, the HU did have 2 blue wires, when I wired the remote to one blue wire it worked fine, but when I wired the second wire to the other blue wire I could not get any reception.
The amp fired up fine, but couldnt get ANY FM reception.

That was when I got the bright idea to wire the remote and power antenna all to one wire.
Once I did that I was able to pick up stations again, only they dont come in strong in most areas!

Yeah, you need to pull the deck and make sure you have the remote wire hooked up the remote turn on lead on the deck. not the power antenna. then just make sure you hook your power antenna to the other wire. or if leaving your antenna up all the time doesnt bother you, just leave the power antenna unhooked altogether.

the second wire is the antenna wire. if you dont mind it being up whenever the car is on, splice it into the RED wire from the back of your HU. (the power antenna wire from the antenna that is)
shouldnt be a problem then. its a workaround.
