Hey there,
A couple of years back i purchased a mutant nw280sp amp and have recently purchased a mutant mt1205 subwoofer.
The specs for the amp are the following:
* 2 channel amplifier
* 2 x 80w RMS at 4 ohms
* 1 x 160w RMS at 2 ohms
and the sub:
• 12” (300mm) IMPP Cone with Rubber Edge
• 50oz Magnet
• 2” Heat Resistant Kapton Voice Coil
• Input Power: 120W RMS / 250W MAX
• Frequency Response: 25Hz-2KHz
• Impedance: 4 Ohms
• Sensitivity: 90dB
• Gold Plated Round Terminals for Quick Connection
At the moment, from an old configuration, the sub is connected to the amp via a bridged connection. Does that mean that the amp is running at 1 x 160w RMS at 2 ohms? Since the sub is rated with an impedance of 4ohm, how would i change the wiring so that the sub runs at 2ohm to correspond with the 1 x 160w RMS at 2 ohms of the amp, if that makes any sense
Any help or feedback will be greatly appreciated,
Cheers,
Dan.
