The amp will only run at the impedance level it sees from the speaker.
A dual 2 ohm VC speaker will yield a 1 ohm nominal load to the amp (assuming wired parallel-parallel)
Digital Designs, for one, offers speakers with a dual 1.4 ohm VC configuration. So, if you wire it parallel-parallel, the amp will see a .7 ohm load from the speaker.
A dual 1 ohm VC will get you the .5 ohm final load, as will a quad 4 ohm VC...
Granted, there is impedance rise once the sub is in the box...... so even the .7 load will be over 1 ohm at the amp anyway....
